about the project
The design carves out a multi-functional outdoor programming space framed by a robust forest of Hybrid Poplar trees that aid in the continued remediation of the groundwater, and provide immense shade, air, and water filtration benefits. Pockets of planting consist of a diverse and robust palette of native plants that support monarch butterfly habitat. The planting areas are ringed with halos of porous paving made with recycled content to mop up much of the stormwater and allow the growing planting habitat to take up much of the stormwater. Custom wood benches made from salvaged timber are scattered throughout the space to frame the more intimate gathering areas.
The forest of phytoremediation trees, native habitat groundcover and porous paving represent a vigorous green infrastructure that allow workers to connect with nature and foster well-being and respect for the environment.
