NoBo Boulder Public Library Public Art

“14ers” is a site specific installation that responds to the geographic landscape of Colorado by capturing, distilling and reinterpreting the 53 peaks that comprise Colorado’s 14ers into a series of undulating bands that emerge from the landscape. The formations are scaled-mirrored profiles of the 53 peaks. Community members are invited to interact with the formations as an immersive experience to explore, wonder and learn. Vibrant colors are expressed on the bands to represent the ecological influence the mountain peaks have (wet+dry, cool+hot, vegetated+bare) while serving as an educational tool about the region’s landscape.
