about the project

Developed through Midtown Association’s Women in Placemaking initiative, Fremont Bloom demonstrates the power of public art to activate shared spaces, foster community connection, and support local creative economies. The installation was envisioned not only as a visual landmark, but as a platform for community life—invigorating Fremont Park as a vibrant destination that includes a diverse series of public programs and events. Throughout its exhibition, the project hosted community markets, picnics, yoga classes, sound baths, silent discos, and live musical performances, creating opportunities for people of all ages to gather, connect, and experience the park in new ways.

Atlas Lab led the concept development, artistic direction, and overall project coordination, working closely with community partners, sponsors, fabricators, and public agencies to bring the vision to life. By combining large-scale sculpture, integrated lighting, and community programming, Fremont Bloom created an immersive civic experience that evolved from day to night and encouraged repeat visitation throughout the installation period.

The resulting artwork serves as both a landmark and a gathering place—demonstrating how public art can strengthen community identity, encourage social interaction, and create meaningful connections between people, place, and the public realm.
